Putting the Fit in Kwik Fit: car workers top exercise poll
Kwik Fit | Monday 9th June 2014 2:00pm
It turns out that Kwik Fit might well be an apt name for the company. Car workers and mechanics have topped a new survey carried out by The British Heart Foundation to find the most physically active profession.
The survey, in which 2,000 workers were quizzed about their regular exercise routines, found that mechanics exercise on average 4.44 times per week!
Other professions that were found to take regular exercise included marketing & PR, IT & telecoms and Bankers who all placed in the top 8 professions. But while these workers are more likely to spend their day behind a desk (thus making exercise a refreshing change of scenery), our fitting teams are on their feet carrying out physically demanding tasks including tyre fitting, exhaust repairs, and brake replacements all day, so to then go home and take on a personal exercise routine is no mean feat!
Those surveyed were asked what their motivation was for doing exercise with the top 3 responses being to improve physical fitness (60%), to live a healthier lifestyle (55%) and to lose weight (46%).
The research was commissioned to launch the British Heart Foundation’s campaign to get more people to take up cycling as a form of exercise and to get involved in one of the many charity cycles that the organisation runs each year to raise money for life-saving research.
