Route 2 saw our team of cyclists take up the challenge of cycling over 400 miles visiting 20 Kwik Fit centres over 4 days. Starting in Darlington and finishing in Peterborough, our team of cyclists completed their leg of our challenge. Picking up a few injuries along the way didn’t stop the team and they pressed on in high spirits.
On day one of the second leg of Tour De Branch, our team of cyclists set off from Darlington heading towards our Bradford centre. The team didn’t let the heat stop them as they made good progress through 3 Kwik Fit centres stopping to pick up cheques for Children with Cancer UK along the way. One of the highlights of the day was at our Ripon centre where the team had raised £700! The team finally arrived at Bradford to a colourful welcome.
The team finished day two in Rotherham after cycling the 78 miles from Bradford passing through 5 Kwik Fit centres along the way. At our Balby Road centre, the team were welcomed by our centre team and customers. One of our customers, Diane Driver, kindly made a donation to the team and spoke about how amazing the effort from the team was. It was great to see so many of our cyclists’ friends and families stop by along the route to show their support and help the team to keep going. Met by local mayors along the way, the team picked up cheques for Children with Cancer UK to help us reach our £1 million fundraising goal. You can support the team by donating here.
Day three was another amazing effort by the team as they cycled from Rotherham to Lincoln passing through Sheffield and Chesterfield along the way. In spite of the heat and a few injuries, the team made great progress on their 80 mile journey. By day three, the team had already completed over 240 miles but morale was still high as they prepared to begin their journey to Burton on Trent.
Today, the team left Lincoln cathedral behind them and headed towards Burton stopping by three Kwik Fit centres along the way. The route saw the team pass through Grantham, Nottingham and Derby before finishing day four in Burton on Trent.
It was finally time for the team to finish their 420 mile route in Peterborough. After picking up a few injuries and plenty of cheques for Children with Cancer UK, the team were ready to pass the end of treatment bell over to our team 3 cyclists. The end of treatment bell, which is being carried by the team throughout the Tour, is symbolic of why we are cycling. The money raised will help more children ring the end of treatment bell to celebrate being cured of cancer.
Our team of cyclists did a fantastic job on route two of the Tour De Branch. Their effort and commitment to completing over 400 miles in 5 days, stopping at 20 Kwik Fit centres along the way was incredible. Today, team three are setting off from Peterborough towards Bury St Edmunds where they will finish the first day of their route. Their first day will see them complete 77 miles stopping at 3 Kwik Fit centres on their way.
