What is a battery health check?

A car battery health check is a diagnostic process that assesses the general condition and performance of a car’s battery. This procedure involves testing the voltage output and charging rate of the battery to provide a clear indication of the battery’s condition.

Using specialist equipment to measure the voltage level, expert technicians like ours can examine the battery’s ability to retain charge. As well as this, battery health checks involve a visual inspection of the battery to check for any corrosion or external damage that may be threatening battery performance. Should your battery need replacing, we can do that too.

Kwik Fit’s battery health checks

This simple but effective battery test, which includes checking for corrosion on the terminals as well as the voltage output and the charging rate of the battery, allows us to gauge the condition of your car or van’s battery.

In addition to inspecting your battery, we'll also identify whether a battery failure is imminent by comparing the test results against the manufacturer’s specifications. Most importantly, the health check will alert you to any underlying battery faults before they become an issue. Our technician will provide a printout of your results for you to keep. Why should you get your battery checked?

Your car battery is the only power source used for getting your car started and faulty batteries are the number one reason for breakdown calls in the UK. In fact, industry sources say that 1 in 10 vehicle batteries are poised to fail.

So, it is critical that you maintain a good healthy battery if you want to avoid becoming a roadside breakdown statistic. If you have any concerns regarding the condition or health of your car battery then we recommend you have the battery and charging system checked as soon as possible.

Here’s a breakdown of why you should opt for a battery health check sooner rather than later:
