Thruxton August race weekend
Kwik Fit | Saturday 17th August 2019 11:02am
FP1 at Thruxton saw the drivers take to the UK’s fastest racing circuit in the sunshine. The first practice of the weekend proved to be successful for team BMW with all three drivers finishing in the top ten with Andrew Jordan hoping to repeat his success of his double race wins in May. Jordan lead early on in FP1 but eventually had to settle for fourth behind Dan Cammish, Ash Sutton and Josh Cook.
Topping the time sheets in FP1, Dan Cammish continues his strong 2019 BTCC season at Thruxton. Seeking their first race win of 2019, the Hondas of Cammish and Neal will be hoping that Thruxton will be a happy hunting ground this race weekend.

Jason Plato leads the way in FP2 with a time of 1:16.414s followed by Team BMW’s Tom Oliphant and Ciceley Motorsport’s Adam Morgan in P2 and P3. The teams and drivers will be completing the final work on their cars in preparation for qualifying. Plato will be looking to stay on top and take pole for Sunday’s races. However, he is sure to be challenged by the rest of the pack.
Sam Tordoff qualifies on pole for the Kwik Fit BTCC race weekend at Thruxton with a fastest lap time of 1:15.876s. Followed by Jason Plato in 2nd and Dan Cammish in 3rd. Double race winner last time out at Thruxton, Andrew Jordan, qualifies in 13th place. We can’t wait to see who will win the races tomorrow!

Sam Tordoff takes his first race win of the 2019 Kwik Fit BTCC season at Thruxton. From pole position to race winner, Tordoff controlled the race from start to finish and maintained the lead. Dan Cammish, driving for Halfords Yuasa Racing, tried his best to close the gap on Tordoff but in the end Tordoff ran out as a comfortable race winner. Third place belonged to Adam Morgan who had a strong race for Ciceley Motorsport.
Both Jason Plato and Jack Goff received drive through penalties for false starts which put them at a disadvantage. Morgan also had a scare early on in the race in lap 3 as he was threatened by Josh Cook at the chicane. However, he managed to fend him off and try to challenge Dan Cammish for second.
An interesting battle was unfolding between the BMWs of Jordan and Turkington behind the race’s front runners. Both drivers were fighting for points to keep them at the top end of the driver’s standings. They found themselves fighting in the middle of the field for 12th and 13th positions as they struggled with their success ballasts.
