Do I need Colt-specific tyres?

Not necessarily. The tyre experts at Kwik Fit can point you in the right direction size-wise, telling you the correct size you'll need for your Colt. Then it's up to you as to whether you want Colt-specific or otherwise.

Although, we do have to say any tyres (or equipment even) that are manufacturer-approved or 'of original equipment standard' are always the top option since they have been recommended by Colt likely because they are of the highest quality.

Should I opt for premium tyres for my Colt?

Whether you want to go premium or not is entirely up to you. But let's explore the pros and cons. Each different tyre type comes with a unique set of benefits. What's more, tyre types differ in cost too - from cheaper Budget and Mid Range to more expensive Premium and Manufacturer Approved types.

But which tyres should you choose for your Colt?

Budget tyres

Budget tyres are the cheapest option but they are also the lowest quality. This means that they are likely to wear down sooner or damage easier. As a result, although their upfront cost might be cheaper, you may have to replace them more often, costing more in the long run.

Premium tyres

Premium tyres, on the other end of the spectrum, are made with the technical research of manufacturers such as Pirelli, Goodyear, and Michelin in mind. As a result, they are more cutting-edge, robust, and higher-performing when compared to budget alternatives. These will need replacing the least often.

Manufacturer-approved tyres

Lastly, manufacturer-approved tyres are those specifically developed and approved to meet Colt's requirements when it comes to handling, terrain, and driving conditions. These will set you back more at the start but generally come with lower lifetime costs as they won't need replacing as frequently. This type of tyre is also generally more fuel efficient and has better braking capabilities.

Other tyre options for your Colt

Aside from the regular types of tyre, you can also pay for specific tyre types such as run-flat tyres that remain inflated when punctured. Or extra load tyres that are designed to withstand excessive weight from heavy loads.
