Shoudl I get tyres specifically for Peugeot?

In short, no. You shouldn't feel obligated to buy tyres that are made specifically for your Peugeot model and there are multiple different options on offer. As long as they are the correct tyre size and load rating, the choice is yours.

Generally speaking, there are three main options when it comes to tyres for your Peugeot: Budget, Premium, and Manufacturer Approved.

Budget tyres for your Peugeot

Budget tyres are your cheapest option up front. However, in the long run, the costs are usually more. Undoubtedly, this type of tyre will do the job if they're the only ones you can afford. But, since they have a lower build quality, they will need to be replaced more frequently - costing more over time.

Premium Peugeot tyres

On the other end of the spectrum, there are premium tyres. These have been formulated in line with the specialist technical research conducted by premium tyre manufacturers such as Michelin, Pirelli, and Goodyear. The results? A more robust, higher-performing tyre.

Manufacturer Approved

Manufacturer approved tyres (sometimes known as 'original equipment tyres') are usually the most preferable option because they are the ones recommended specifically by Peugeot for Peugeot. They do well to meet the unique needs of your Peugeot and undergo rigorous testing to reach that point.

If you do decide to opt for premium or manufacturer approved tyres, the higher upfront cost does eventually result in a lower lifetime cost because you won't have to replace them as often. Also, there are always the performance benefits such as improved fuel efficiency, braking, and handling that come with higher quality tyres.

Other Peugeot tyre types

As an aside, you may wish to pay for Run Flat tyres - ones that stay inflated when punctured. Or, opt for Extra Load tyres that can carry extra weight and hold rim protectors for your hubcaps to protect them from damage.
