About Us

Sustainability at Kwik Fit

At Kwik Fit, we're committed to helping reduce the environmental impact of vehicle maintenance and motoring. Whether it's recycling tyres, supporting responsible sourcing, or helping drivers get the most from their vehicles, we're always looking for ways to make a positive difference.

We know that sustainability is an ongoing journey, with net zero goals shaping action. And while there's always more to do, we're focused on taking practical steps that help reduce waste, use resources responsibly, and support a more sustainable future.

Kwik Fit's approach to environmental responsibility

Sustainability is central to many areas of our business. From the products we fit and the materials we recycle, to the advice we give customers every day, we're working to make responsible choices wherever we can.

Our focus is built around four key areas:

Reducing waste and increasing recycling

Every day, Kwik Fit’s centres handle products and materials that need to be disposed of responsibly, including tyres, batteries, and engine oil.

Wherever possible, we work with specialist recycling and recovery partners to ensure these materials can be reused, repurposed, or recycled, helping to reduce waste and keep valuable resources in circulation for longer.

Our recycling initiatives include:

  • End-of-life tyre recycling
  • Used engine oil recovery and reprocessing
  • Vehicle battery recycling
  • Reducing transport impacts through efficient collection and processing.

By considering the circular economy in our approach to waste, we can help minimise environmental impact while making the most of existing resources.

Supporting responsible supply chains

Sustainability starts long before a tyre reaches one of our centres.

Natural rubber is an important component in many tyres, and the way it's sourced can have a significant impact on both people and the environment. That's why we support initiatives that encourage responsible sourcing, and help improve sustainability throughout the natural rubber supply chain.

Sustainable initiatives

Through our previous involvement in PROJECT TREE and other industry initiatives, we're helping to support greater transparency, better environmental practices, and positive outcomes for communities involved in rubber production.

Working with brands and suppliers that care

We carefully select our tyre brands, ensuring they meet not only our high standards for safety and performance, but also demonstrate a commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.

Many manufacturers we work with are actively investing in sustainability initiatives across their operations. This includes developing longer-lasting tyres to help reduce waste, carrying out ongoing research and development to improve fuel efficiency, and working to reduce emissions through more efficient supply chains and logistics networks.

By choosing suppliers that share our commitment to sustainability, we're helping to support positive environmental progress throughout the tyre industry, while continuing to provide customers with products they can trust.

Helping drivers make more sustainable maintenance choices

Looking after your vehicle isn't just essential for safety and performance; it can also help improve efficiency, reducing emissions and unnecessary waste.

That’s why we encourage our customers to keep on top of the simple maintenance checks and driving habits that can make a real difference.

  1. Keeping tyres inflated to the correct pressure, ensuring wheel alignment is properly adjusted, and replacing worn parts when needed can all help to:
    • Extend tyre life
    • Improve fuel efficiency
    • Reduce unnecessary tyre replacements
    • Lower vehicle emissions
    • Improve overall vehicle performance
  2. Regularly getting your car serviced can help to spot issues that contribute to poor fuel economy, such as dirty air filters and worn spark plugs.
  3. Getting into good habits (such as driving smoothly and reducing idling time) can help reduce your car’s carbon footprint.

Our technicians are here to help drivers and fleets keep their vehicles in the best possible condition, supporting both vehicle longevity and more efficient motoring.

Continually improving the way we operate

We’re always looking at ways to increase the amount we recycle, and are currently trying to cut down on the number of trips we make to the recycling plants.

By trialling tyre compressors at some of our centres, we can start the recycling process ourselves and minimise transport.

To help us with our tyre recycling efforts, all we ask from you is a small amount for every tyre we remove from your vehicle, which goes towards recycling costs. You will see this itemised in your bill as ‘environmental tyre disposal’.

Tyre recycling at Kwik Fit

Millions of tyres reach the end of their life every year, but that doesn't mean they're simply thrown away.

We work with our specialist recycling partners at Murfitts Industries Ltd to ensure used tyres are collected and processed, so that the materials can be given a new purpose. Recycled tyre materials can be used in a range of applications, from sports and playground surfaces to construction and manufacturing.

If you'd like to learn more about the journey your old tyres take after they're removed from your vehicle, take a look at our blog on how Kwik Fit recycles tyres.

A commitment to the environment, now and in the future

Sustainability is a long-term commitment, and we're continuing to explore ways to improve the environmental performance of our business.

By focusing on responsible recycling, sustainable sourcing, efficient vehicle maintenance, and continuous improvement, we're helping to support a more sustainable future for our customers, our industry, and the communities we serve.

As vehicle technology and environmental challenges continue to evolve, we'll continue to adapt and play our part in driving positive change.
